Chainstitch embroidery is done using a crochet rather than a needle. It uses wool or artsilk thread for embroidery which is thicker than the cotton or silk thread used in needlework. Chainstitch embroidery has a greater surface area per stitch than needlework, covering a much larger area in the same amount of time.
Chainstitch rugs can be used either as area rugs or wall hangings and are available in floral, kelim, bird/ animal and modern designs.
These rugs are supported with cotton lining. Chainstitch rugs come in many different sizes 2’x3’, 2.5'x4', 3’x5’, 6’x4’, 7'x5', 6’x9’ and 9'x12'. Larger sizes can be made on request.
