Kashmiri Crewel fabric is embroidered by hand using wool and silk threads, it uses a chain stitch to produce fabrics with vibrant motifs and high durability. Crewel fabrics are used for deapery and upholstery - made into curtains, blinds, sofa covers, chair upholstery etc. Crewel fabric is available by the yard and is also used to make cushions, pillow shams and throws. Crewel fabrics have many different design and colorways. Off-white is the most common background with shades of blue, green and red also found. Multicolor wool embroidery and neutrals are worked on these fabrics.
